With an open outlook on the world, the University of Montpellier contributes to the development of the European Higher Education Area and strengthens its international standing and appeal, working closely with its partners in the I-SITE Excellence Program through initiatives tailored to the major scientific challenges it addresses. Regional, national, and international initiatives I-SITE Excellence Program Chairs, ATIP-AVENIR, MOPGA, UNESCO… These are just some of the initiatives established with the support of the I-SITE Excellence Program to attract top-tier scientists and facilitate the integration of high-potential young researchers into our research structures. Learn more Montpellier Advanced Knowledge Institute on Transitions (MAK’IT) The Montpellier Advanced Knowledge Institute on Transitions (MAK’IT) is the Institute for Advanced Studies (IEA) of the University of Montpellier and its partners in the I-SITE Excellence Program. By drawing on innovative inter- and transdisciplinary approaches, through hosting internationally renowned foreign researchers and organizing events of global significance in Montpellier, it aims to stimulate the scientific community’s contribution to accelerating the transitions necessary to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the fields of agriculture and food, the environment, and health. Learn more Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) The University of Montpellier has been selected to host the Technical Support Unit of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). This choice places Montpellier at the heart of global biodiversity challenges. The assessment aims to identify and understand the factors within human society—at both the individual and collective levels, and from the local to the global scale—that can be mobilized to bring about transformative changes to ensure the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of biodiversity, taking into account social and economic factors within the context of the Sustainable Development Goals. Learn more A university certified “HR Excellence in Research” Since March 2015, by becoming the first French university to receive the “Human Resources Excellence in Research” (HRS4R) label from the European Commission, the University of Montpellier has been implementing a human resources strategy for research that reflects its commitment to evolving its practices and aligning with European recommendations to better support researchers in their careers, improve their working conditions and mobility within the European area, while enhancing the University’s appeal on a European scale.
